EMS sets the standard with BS OHSAS 18001

Event Marketing Solutions (EMS) has added another standard to its list by achieving the BS OHSAS 18001:2007 occupational health and safety certification.

The OHSAS 18001 standard requires a company to have a comprehensive occupational health and safety management system in place – in order to minimise risk and improve performance.

EMS already holds the ISO 9001 quality standard and Investors In People accreditation, and it is one of few events companies to hold the ISO 14001 environmental management standard, committing it to reducing its environmental impact.

Keith Austin, Managing Director of EMS, said: “Our aim is to develop policies and procedures that set us apart from our competitors and help us deliver the very best service for our clients.

"Our success in achieving the ISO standards has been a key factor in a number of recent new business wins, and we are seeing a growing demand from clients for this type of evidence of our professionalism as a business.”

Joanne Breen, Certification Manager, from Centre for Assessment Ltd, said: “Health and safety has an important role to play in any business, but particularly for a company like EMS, which has employees travelling widely within the UK and overseas."

"To achieve this standard is a significant achievement for a business of its size. EMS has been through a rigorous assessment process and have demonstrated that they control risk through its management processes. I congratulate the company on its success.”
