30 more graduates join EMS for the 2016 Student Finance Tour

EMS has recruited 30 graduates for the sixth consecutive year to deliver the award-winning Student Finance Tour (SFT).

The SFT, which is run in partnership with the Department for Education (DfE), sees recent graduates visit schools to talk about the financial support available to those wanting to go to university.

Since 2011, the SFT has educated 873,274 students and parents, while almost 200 graduates have been given unique starts to their careers.

EMS Account Manager Lauren Fairhurst said: “Working on the Student Finance Tour is a fantastic experience. By the end of the tour, each recruit has developed skills that serve them well throughout their careers.”

Student Finance PresentationThis year’s SFT will visit more than 2,000 schools. Each visit includes a talk and an open Q&A session. Future students attend along with parents and teachers. Many students use the sessions to fill in the blanks in their knowledge that may be causing them concern.

The unique peer-to-peer nature of the presentations, where recent graduates provide up-to-date and relevant knowledge from their own experiences in higher education, makes the SFT particularly effective.

EMS Project Executive Emily Horn started her career by working on the SFT in 2015 before switching to her current role. She said: “Working on the Student Finance Tour is a great way to build up your confidence. For recent graduates, there’s nothing better.”

EMS Head of Client Operations Cassie Kendrew said: “Our business is built on the power of face-to-face experiences. We know the Student Finance Tour makes a genuine difference to students and parents across the country, and we’re proud to work with the Department for Education on such a successful and significant project.”

The Student Finance Tour was awarded Silver at the 2015 UK Public Sector Communications Excellence Awards.
