EMS takes The Student Finance tour back on the road for the seventh year running
For the seventh consecutive year, Event Marketing Solutions (EMS), the UK’s leading roadshow marketing agency, has recruited and trained 30 graduates who will visit sixth form students, parents and teachers across the country to deliver the award-winning Student Finance Tour (SFT).
The SFT, which is run in partnership with the Department for Education (DfE), aims to increase understanding of the financial support available for higher education among prospective applicants and parents. Since the tour was first initiated in 2011, EMS and DfE have reached over one million students and parents – a figure set to rise by almost 100,000 over the next seven weeks during a schedule that includes over 1,330 events.
Each year, EMS carries out a rigorous recruitment and training process to build a team of 30 self-motivated, energetic recent graduates based across the UK who have an interest in working with young people. These graduate ambassadors become the heart of each tour, hosting talks and Q&A sessions to draw on their own experiences in a peer-to-peer learning environment. To equip the graduates with the skills needed to present information in an engaging and informative way, EMS conducts an intensive three-day training course, held at its new state-of-the-art headquarters for the first time this year.
Jay Oliver, a graduate ambassador on this year’s tour, said: “Working on the SFT has given me a wonderful opportunity to build on the skills I’d learnt at university and put them into practice straight away. Presenting to prospective students has helped build my confidence, and, for the students, it’s also less daunting and much more accessible to speak to recent graduates who have first-hand experience of student finance.”
As well as the recruiting and training of graduate ambassadors, EMS also seamlessly coordinates the logistical planning of each tour, including the scheduling of all events and liaison with schools and FE colleges across the country.
