EMS takes Healthy Heart roadshow to Northern Ireland
The British Heart Foundation’s (BHF’s) award-winning Heart Health roadshow has begun its first-ever tour of Northern Ireland.
The campaign, which has been managed by marketing roadshow specialist Event Marketing Solutions (EMS) since 2009, targets UK regions most at risk of heart disease, engaging with members of the public who might not normally visit their GP, by visiting supermarkets, town centres and the workplaces of major employers.
The BHF-branded mobile unit is visiting visit 30 locations across Northern Ireland over the summer, offering people lifestyle checks and expert advice from a specialist nurse and dietician on maintaining a healthy heart. Heart and circulatory disease are Northern Ireland’s biggest killers, accounting for a third of all deaths.
Dr Mike Knapton, Associate Medical Director at the BHF, said “The roadshow is the perfect chance for people interested in their health to come along to a really friendly, informal setting, and find out more about how they can improve their lifestyle to lower their risk of developing heart disease in the future.
“While fewer people may be dying from heart disease, more people are living with it. Small changes really can make a huge difference to the risk of getting heart disease and we have lots of free support and guidance to offer.”
EMS CEO Keith Austin said:
“The roadshow is having another highly successful year, and it’s fantastic to be in Northern Ireland helping BHF to spread the health hearts message. We know from previous experience that a mobile campaign of this nature has a measurable effect on peoples’ lives and how they view their heart health.”
