EMS wins Broadband Bus Contract

A Cheshire-based company has won a prestigious contract to reveal the powers of broadband and the Internet to the local public.

Event Marketing Solutions Ltd (EMS), which has headquarters in Little Stanney, has been selected by the Cheshire and Warrington Information Consortium (CWIC) who are rolling out a project funded by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, to provide a high-tech mobile classroom to travel the county. Inside, visitors can discover the vast amount of information about local services available on the World Wide Web.

The royal blue Broadband Bus is completely self-contained, allowing users throughout the county to experience the broadband revolution via ten high-tech computers connected to the Internet by state-of-the-art satellite equipment.

Keith Austin, Managing Director of EMS, said: "We are delighted that CWIC have chosen us to help their campaign. Taking the Internet out to the community is an imaginative and forward-thinking initiative, which I am sure visitors will find to be a fascinating and rewarding experience."

EMS, a rapidly growing company, was founded three years ago and now employs 25 people. The dedicated team specialises in the supply and management of mobile roadshows across the country. Other high profile clients include the Department for Education and Skills, Samsung and the Professional Golfers Association.

CWIC is a partnership of all eight Cheshire and Warrington's local authorities. The partnership aims to ease and modernise access to its services, promoting the vast amount of online information available 24 hours a day.

During its initial four-week tour of the county, the distinctive eight-metre Broadband Bus will be visiting Northwich and Davenham on March 15, Rudheath on March 16, Frodsham on March 17, Winsford on March 26, Crewe on March 29 and Blacon on a date due to be announced shortly. Full details of the roadshow can be found on the CWIC website www.cwic.org.uk

Ian Knowles, CWIC's Consortium Manager said: "The Broadband Bus is an integral part of our partnership's wish to trial access to eServices and to eGovernment eventually, and to provide that facility in areas where it is most needed and where alternative high speed access is often sparse, and of course, the skills and training to go with it.

"The project is very innovative and breaks new ground in Cheshire and Warrington and we have been very pleased with EMS's flexibility and willingness to adapt at short notice to our changing needs and circumstances."
